About VirtualVCP

Thank you for visiting www.virtualvcp.com. I am Rynardt Spies and I'm a Technical Consultant, currently specialising in virtualisation, mainly focused on VMware. I live with my wife Sarah, daughter Lanie, and son Zachariah, in Hertfordshire, just north of London, England.

I've been working in IT for the past 10 years. I originally started out in application and database development with Delphi, C++ and Oracle. I have a diploma in Comprehensive Programming [Dip.Comp.Prog (CTI)], and I'm also a VMware Certified Professional (VCP ID:10305) in VMware Virtual Infrastructure 3, vSphere 4 as well as vSphere 5 and also hold VMware VCAP-DCA and VCAP-DCD certifications. I am also in the process of co-authoring a book for Wiley / Sybex on VMware vSphere 5 Performance

I somehow ended up in desktop and server support (Thank God mainly server support), but for the last 6 years, I've mainly been focused on virtualization with VMware. I'm currently employed as a Technical Consultant at Computacenter UK. Lately, my main area of interest is infrastructure design, including both physical and virtual infrastructures. I always find good challenges in designing and building secure and cost efficient infrastructures and solutions.

Some of my main skills include:

  • VMware ESX 2, VI3 and vSphere4/5
  • VMware View 5
  • Windows NT, 2000, 2003, 2008 /R2
  • Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 and 2003
  • Novell Netware 5.1 and 6.5
  • Novell ZenWorks
  • Novell SuSe Enterprise Linux 10
  • Novell Open Enterprise Linux 10
  • OpenSuse 10 and 11
  • Gentoo Linux
  • Apache Web Server and MySQL (Linux)
  • Postfix and Spamassassin Server configurations (Linux)

As and when I come across problems and scenarios in my day-to-day tasks, I try to post them here as a future reference for myself and others that may come across the same issues.

If you would like to contact me, please use the contact form or email me at rynardt dot spies at virtualvcp dot com.

Kind Regards

Rynardt Spies
